Digital Workshop: Regulatory Requirements to Export Food to the European Union
Welcome to the Digital Workshop: Regulatory Requirements to Export Food to the European Union page.
The European Union (EU) is the largest economy in the world. Its single market encompasses 27 countries with a total of 440 million consumers. As such, the EU is also by far the biggest importer of food worldwide. This export market is characterized by having no internal borders (once goods are imported, they can move freely within the EU) as well as a shared, harmonized set of rules and regulations.
However, despite having no internal borders, the EU still has external borders. As such, exporters of food and agriproducts targeting the EU need to be aware of the rules and regulations that apply to their products when sold in the EU's common market. This module is designed for food exporters that wish to serve the EU market.
