Reducing Cross-border Inefficiencies

Welcome to this module on reducing cross-border inefficiencies for Filipino traders. Cross-border inefficiencies can take many forms, from transport difficulties to border issues to simple corruption or incompetence. In all cases, however, it makes exporting more difficult, time-consuming and costly.

As an exporter, you need to not only be aware of the various inefficiencies you will encounter, but also know how to overcome them or minimize the impact they will have on your operations. In this module, we will look at the cross-border inefficiencies faced by Filipino exporters and identify some of the solutions that have been, and are being proposed to remedy them, with a particular focus on the solutions which the Philippines agreed to in 2013 as part of its ratification of the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:
Determine the impact of cross-border inefficiencies on business
Identify what trade facilitation can do to provide solutions to cross-border inefficiencies
Evaluate the solutions provided by the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) in terms of addressing cross border inefficiencies
Assess actions that the private and public sectors can take together to tackle cross-border inefficiencies
Course certification
Participants who meet the course requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion issued in electronic format.
